
Infrastructure Team Operations Services




The Operations Center is staffed 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. There are three shifts that last 8 hours each. The shifts are:
- Days 0700-1500
- Swings 1500-2300
- Graves 2300-0700
Operations Center Duties:
- Computer operators monitor the workflow
- Insure batch processes complete properly
- Make sure hardware functions properly
- Report any problems that arise, to insure a quick resolution
- Execute back up procedures
- Perform Initial program loads of the operating systems
- Operators mount removable media (tapes)
- Print and file output
- Answer phones to assist the client community
The Production Services area is responsible for managing and monitoring Administrative Production
Batch processing for the University of Nebraska system.
This includes Budget, Human Resources, Financial Management, the UNO and UNL Student Systems,
and other miscellaneous applications.
Accomplishing this involves developing and maintaining Production
Batch processing schedules that satisfy client needs and University business demands. This requires
flexible modifications of needs and requirements.
This process includes running the correct job, at the correct time, in the correct order to produce the right form of output. Managing the Production
Support associated Libraries with appropriate Quality Control to insure the integrity of Production
processing results.
Even during off hours you will find the staff "On-Call", insuring that requirements are being met
and quality maintained. The main tools of the trade are OPC, PROJCL-a JCL Management and QA tool,
and Systemware (XPTR)- an Output Management and Report Distribution package.
