Beginning October 18, 2004, Employee Self-Service (ESS) will offer four new functions to employees.

Employee Self Service (ESS) provides online access to employee's personal data which is stored in the university’s administrative computing system (SAP). Beginning October 18, 2004 ESS will offer three new features:

Education: Employees may now view their educational information through ESS. When this option is selected an up-to-date listing of education will be displayed. Each entry will list the name of the institution, date and type of degree or certification. Terminal Degree information, as defined by the Campus Academic offices, generally indicates the highest obtainable degree within the area of discipline. Educational information cannot be updated through ESS and you should contact your Human Resource Coordinator if there are inaccuracies or this information is incomplete.

Qualification: Employees may now view their qualifications through ESS. When this option is selected an up-to-date listing of licenses, certifications and special qualifications will be displayed. Examples of qualifications include Medical licenses, CPA licenses, computer certifications, foreign languages, notary licenses and more. This information can not be updated through ESS and you should contact your Human Resource Coordinator if there are inaccuracies of this information is incomplete.

W-4: Until now employees have only been able to look at their W-4 Information. Employees will now be able to change their filing status and number of allowances. In addition, the ESS Help website will provide links to view a current copy of a blank W-4 Federal form and a link to the IRS Withholding Calculator. This IRS website can be used to help employees ensure that they do not have too much or too little income tax withheld from their pay.
