What is ESS?
Employee Self-Service will be available Fall 2003 for all benefits-eligible employees. ESS is a new web application which allows employees to interact with their own SAP data, such as pay advices and current benefits options. It is convenient and secure method for employees to get information without the hassle of forms or lines.
Benefits
ESS is a fast, easy, and personal. All you need is your ESS ID and password, and you can access ESS from any web browser 24 hours a day. The only time ESS is not available is Sundays from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM for routine maintenance.
There are no special codes or menu paths to memorize. ESS uses an intuitive one-click menu that makes it easy to find what you need. And the best part is you only see your information, so you don’t have to search through thousands of irrelevant entries.
Options
ESS will provide the following options:
Display Current Benefit Options
Display FSA Claims
Display Pay Advice
Display or Change Address
Display Bank Information
Display Family Members/Dependants
Display W4 Information
But this is just the beginning. Additional options will be developed based on user feedback. ESS is not limited to HR and Benefits interactions, so options could be developed for other areas such as Finance and Procurement. Possible future enhancements include an employee directory and an online W4 entry form.
