The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the purchase of an IBM Enterprise Server in December 2001.The IBM Z800 eServer will provide the University Nebraska with additional resources for SAP and Student Information Systems (SIS). Our current system is running at 90%+ of its capacity.

The new S/390 System will feature the following configuration:

• 2066-002 (Z800-002)
  
• 360 mips – 2 main processors
  
• 8 gig of memory
  
• Escon and Ficon channels (no parallel)
  
• Gigabit Ethernet network connections
  
• 1 IFL – Integrated Facility for Linux

After evaluation of several hardware options, including the significant savings on IBM Software, the IBM eServer Z800 was ordered with an estimated go-live date of May 25, 2002
