The following staff members were recipients of the 'Bravo' award at our December, all staff meeting.

Cerah Hedrick, Customer Support Team

CSN is providing UNL Grant Administrators assistance and training on hte issues and challenges of Awards Management at a Research Institution. Cerah shared with them the availability and location of the documentation on how to read reports and how to understand them. This is especially helpfule to researchers who don't share a financial background and benefit from the feature of beingable to remove columns which they don not need to see. I appreciate Cerah's willingness to speak to this group with NO notice. She did a terrific job. Thanks and Kudos Cerah!

-Jeanne Wicks, Director, Post-Award Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs

Dayna Souza, Customer Administration Team

During the recent fire alarm, Dayna and Sue Church took it upon themselves to take a head count of all UNCSN employees. Although this responsibility is really assigned to each of the respective team leaders, Dayna and and Sue did a great job of collecting the information and trying to determine the status of each person. Thank you Dayna.

Doug Evans, Operations Services Team

The Disaster Recovery Plan and processes have been pretty much ignored in the past, but due too the recent elevations in emergency response, UNCSN has been making additional assignments and planning to prepare for any kind of event. One such assignment is for the Operations shift leader to stick with the Fire and Police personnel and act as a liaison for UNCSN in tracking the status of the emergency. Although there was considerable confusion, once it was determined that the fire alarm was a real event, Doug did a great job of sticking with the appropriate authorities and giving us continual updates on the status of the situation, including the eventual "all clears" Thank you Doug.

Walt Aude, Networking Team

Walter Weir recently received a call from the UNK CIO explaining that due to some power changes they would be shutting down the UNK core network the next Monday during the day. Over 100 schools that are a part of Network Nebraska would have lost internet access due to this outage. Walter Aude spent the weekend picking up an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) from UNO and delivering and setting it up at UNK. This UPS provided the necessary backup power to keep the core Network Nebraska equipment up and running during the power outage. The customers were never aware of the problem. Thank you Walter.

Leonard Campbell, Networking Team

There are several hospitals that connected to the University state-side network because of their relationship with UNMC. Due to the different implementations of firewalls and networks at each of these locations, it has become a struggle for them to make video connections. Although we do not process video equipment or skills, Leonard has been instrumental in working with UNMC and the hospitals to establish video connections across our network. Several of the people involved in this process have let me know how much they have appreciated Leonards efforts. Thank you Leonard.

Dwayne Dvorak, Advanced systems Administration Team

Although we have had a document that we have called a Disaster Recovery Plan for many years, it was not until recently that it became a living document. A lot of this increased awareness at CSN has been because of the effort put forth by Dwayne. This plan is really starting to take shape and becoming a usable process that we can follow in the event of a true emergency. Thank you Dwayne.

Christopher Boilesen, Networking Team

Christopher was a key resource in the recent Governor's press conference on the Nebraska Telehealth Network. This includes managing and setting up IP addresses and network connections for many of the 55 hospitals that were a part of the test. The press conference was a success and it would not have been without Christophers's involvement. Thank you Christopher.
